We are a Performing Arts School with high standards and a fantastic reputation in Performing Arts activities for children - some of our students have performed (or are performing) in the West End, and even on Broadway. We have also seen students go onto win Olivier awards and become Global Mega Writers & Rock-Stars!
Community is important to us; we are proud to work closely with our network and have great friends in this world. We are proud to have a strong team of supporters to help us continually develop our school’s good work; all focused on giving children a stable and positive environment that they can flourish in. Our team is formed by talent - and qualified trained/ DBS checked professionals. We are very much a 'family' run school and have a lot of fun together as a team putting on great shows for the local youth.
We see many of our students and interns graduate to drama/musical theatre schools - but more importantly, all of our students finish their training with a confidence that will support them in life and with their chosen career, regardless of whether it is in Performing Arts - something we pride ourselves on with the work we do with young people.
StageWorks UK offers young people the opportunity to enjoy the arts and develop their talents. We have been expanding since we opened in 2000 to provide quality performing arts education across the region, with locations in Henley, Benson, Marlow and Caversham. Maybe we could come to your area? Do get in touch if you would like to find out more.
Our Founder, Emma Jane Taylor has extensively researched children's development to ensure our team fully align when it comes to expanding children's confidence, self-belief and determination in the Performing Arts arena. She says “putting children into the spotlight, comes with great responsibility - not all children will take to performing. Our job is to make sure every age safely develops through their years to not over stimulate and damage their growth, but to enhance their development when it comes to performing arts, giving children confidence and self-belief to enhance the development of their young minds. Having done extensive research on brain development in young people I better understand the damage that can be done by overstimulating young brains. It is why we continue to work very sensitively with the different age groups and abilities, encouraging children gently with the training we offer at StageWorks, UK”.

Our mission is to prepare children with confidence, determination and self-belief, all a huge part of their development in life. With public speaking being the NO.1 fear in adults (spiders being the 2nd), we are driven to support young people thrive in their young life and future - regardless of whether they continue in the performing arts or not.

All students get the opportunity to perform in all our productions throughout the year, and there are many! Our annual diary always runs with a multitude of productions: one that accommodates our production needs, i.e. immersive, round stage. We also regularly perform at Drama Festivals, Carnivals, Galas and Events. Making us one of the busiest performing schools in the area.
We choose our venues carefully to produce a varied style of performance - keeping up with the safe development of our young performers. Please note there are extra rehearsal dates and weekends throughout the year where we will expect students to attend. Check out our DIARY DATES page.
IMPORTANT NOTE.
PLEASE read our T&C's carefully when you sign up - so there are no surprises re our extra rehearsals/costs or expectations. Our extra costs vary slightly each year with inflation.
Extra costs help to cover our major productions giving students the opportunity to perform with a professional team - deepening their training with us at StageWorks Performing Arts School. Our productions bring life skills that many children need such as confidence, self-belief, determination. Our classes also allow children to understand the importance of teamwork and how to express themselves.
If you are interested in joining our 'Production team' in anyway, then please make yourself known to the admin team so we can share what positions are available - and then sign you up....quickly!

Some of our students are represented by our casting agent and have gone onto perform in the West End, TV, Film, and on Broadway -> yes, we celebrated Ted Wilson playing Eric in Matilda on Broadway and also in the West End, London. We are also very lucky to have rubbed shoulders with Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible, Dame Judi Dench in All is True and Rupert Everett, Colin Firth in St. Trinians plus many more greats over the last 25 years.

We have seen many of our students performing professionally in the West End; Mary Poppins, Matilda, Oliver, The King and I, Madam Butterfly, Ragtime. Movie/TV - St Trinians Movie, CBeebies, Nickelodeon, Various commercials, SKY TV, Disney Play Channel, Waffle the Wonderdog, Downton Abbey, ITVs Endeavour, Mission Impossible, All is True and various other professional contracts and commercials.
Not all children want to experience professional contracts. For each role and audition, we carefully consider whether the role is right/ and at the right time for our student. Being professionally cast is a big commitment, and sometimes it might need more consideration before signing on the dotted line. Our Founder, Emma Jane Taylor works closely with the families who have children performing professionally, to ensure the priorities of child welfare are at the front of all considerations.

We run various Workshops and Masterclasses throughout the year. These are both internal and external events created and designed by our Principal, Emma Jane Taylor. Our bespoke in-house workshops are creative, fun, engaging, allowing continued positive development for young people.
Our Masterclasses have become very popular for our young performers and focus in on their skills and performance development. We regularly visit local schools, offering local communities the opportunity to take part in our workshops. We would be happy to discuss further with your school.
By offering varied activities, we can provide great opportunities for children wanting to develop their performing skills, enhancing their ability and future opportunities. Our workshops are open to all young performers across our local community.
In the first instance, please contact us directly for our up-coming events, and details of how to book your child onto these exclusive days. Our workshops & masterclasses are led by Emma Jane with our exceptional talented instructors.

Our complimentary Open Days run regularly throughout the year to encourage our young performers to find out more about our amazing school. Our OPEN days are FREE & every child is welcome to join us.
Do let us know if you were wanting your child to attend.
Each young performer taking part in our OPEN DAYS gets to see how our school and classes are run, and what we are working on. We share information at our Open Days on how our productions are presented at our shows throughout the year, and we teach students various routines and involve them in plenty of drama activities. We are proud to announce an affiliation with HAODS Henley a local theatre group for performers aged 16+. HAODS is a local theatre company, based in the heart of Henley and next-door to our very loved theatre, The Kenton. StageWorks HQ is based at their studio/StageWorks affiliation with HAODS cements their 25-year relationship and continues to develop local talent and opportunities in the local areas for young performers. HAODS/ StageWorks affiliation programmes are open to 16-year-old performers. StageWorks will provide a reference for each affiliated member, and this will be added to their personal development plan with HAODS.
HAODS will have an informal meet up with the young performers once they hit 16, and StageWorks will hold an informal interview that will officially sign up each StageWorks student to the HAODS affiliated programme.

Our Ambassador Programmes offer two students the opportunity to represent StageWorks and our two casts Henley and BSC throughout a year (our ambassador term). Ambassadors are inspiring role models selected from our Senior Academy students by the Senior Management team. Selection is based on dedication and commitment to the Performing Arts, and how this passion sets an example to our younger students.
Ambassadors are our highest award, a huge accolade for the student selected and great for their CV and future opportunities - regardless of whether they continue in the performing arts.
